Tamiya's 1/48 F-16CJ (Block 50) is the first-ever 1/48 kit of the current Falcon that has not been a kit of the A-model tweaked to resemble the C, but has been designed as a C from the start. As can be seen from their wonderful 1/32-scale kits of this aircraft, they've got the details down, and nearly everything from the larger kit is here too, like the fantastic cockpit and landing gear detail.

Features include full intake ducting leading up to a detailed compressor face, deep and detailed exhaust, AIM-9M and AIM-9X Sidewinders, AIM-120C AMRAMMs, AGM-88 HARMs, drop tanks and ECM pod that attach by means of polycaps (meaning you can swap them around after assembly!), separate flaps that could be positioned in either the raised or lowered position, moveable tail fins, a pilot figure with both new (including sighting goggles) and old-type helmets, and even the four IFF antennas in front of the cockpit seen on newly modified Vipers.

Markings are included for three aircraft: the commander's plane of the 5th Air Force at Misawa, the commander's plane of the 52nd Fighter Wing in Spangdahlem, Germany, and the 2001 Tiger Meet markings of the 79th FS.
