The M1A2 is the latest member of the M1 family. It is an improved model based on the experience gained after the Persian Gulf War. Its main improvement is its own internal electronic and firing control system, making it more perfect. In addition to the 62 newly built M1A2s, 1079 old M1s have been upgraded to M1A2s.
