The "MiG" 19 "Farmer" is the first generation of supersonic fighters of the former Soviet Union. The prototype of the aircraft flew for the first time in September 1953, and mass production began in 1955. It was the main combat aircraft of the former Soviet Air Force throughout the 1950s. About 10,000 of this type of aircraft and its improved versions were produced. In addition to being equipped with the former Soviet Air Force, they were also exported to other countries, including China, Poland, the Czech Republic, Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea, Iraq and other "Warsaw Pact" countries. In the 1960s, the former Soviet Union began to update its troops with more advanced "MiG" 21 fighters, but other countries still used "MiG" 19 series aircraft for many years. A total of about 2,000 of the aircraft were produced in China to equip troops.
